When I was a small boy of five, my parents would always dance to
the Trini Lopez live at PJs records. Dad would always sing "If you want to be
happy for the rest of your life, don't make a pretty woman your wife..." and Mom
would get mad at him, because she was real pretty (but he was very happy).
When I was 10, my Dad was called away to war in Vietnam. When we really missed
him (every day), Mom would play Trini's upbeat, happy version of "Smile".
Dad came home after a long terrible year, to never leave again.
I bought them the Live at PJ's album for this Christmas, and caught them
dancing again. Close to their 70s, and after all these years.
Thank you so much Trini.

I'm proud to say that in 1966 at the age of five, "Trini Lopez' Greatest Hits" was the first album I ever picked out on my own in a record shop. I took it home, and played it to death, and I still have that same copy. And to this day whenever I see a Trini album that I may not already have, I do the same thing, I take it home, and play it to death.

It is a hard thing to compress into this small space all the good and positive feelings that I feel towards Trini and the sound that he generates from his
voice, and his guitar too, that has meant so much to me over these last 29
years. In 1971,I received an album from relatives in Australia, where I now
live. On the front cover, it showed Trini holding a Fender guitar which as I soon found
out, was not the electric guitar that he played in performances with!
In any case, I thought then as I still do, that Trini is the greatest and quickly began to collect his
records. During this time, I was also learning how to play drums and Trini's albums were a key component of my initial
play-alongs, it was so much fun and it was very real, like accompanying him in
person. In 1974,he made a personal appearance in the Boston area, where I grew
up, and my late father took me to a couple of the shows, we sat near near the stage and all I can remember, is being over the moon as Trini sang his hit songs and a few other then current
tunes. In 1982 I moved to Australia, later on I started to see cassettes with greatest
hits, and then CD anthologies, all of which I bought. But little did one realize what the Internet would
do. In early 1999,I discovered that Trini was doing a couple of shows in
Laughlin, NV. We went out there, and not only enjoyed Trini's shows, but got to meet someone who I have always wanted to
meet, and what an honor and a privilege that was, thank you Trini for just being who you
are, to us all through your music and as a human being. Viva!

I first heard Trini Lopez through US Arm Forces Radio
from Taiwan when I was a boy but hardly understand English. In fact, his recording at PJ's help me learn
English, in the most joyful way! I bought a 33 1/3 with my savings and played it once a day at neighbor's because we did not have a
gramaphone.
To me Trini Lopez is one of the greatest entertainer
in the world that brings cheers to everyone on earth.
He sings beautifully and brings out the best of souls of all people. The guitar style is out of this world. I simply wish the younger generation are aware of the standards he sets. Therefore I always make sure my teenage kids are around when I play his CDs , nowadays.
Best to you Trini. You are the true American I looked up to when I was young and I know what you sing about will last for generations to come.

I WENT TO SCHOOL AT N.R.CROZIER TECH IN DALLAS WITH TRINI LOPEZ. WE WERE IN SOME CLASSES TOGETHER. HIS CLASSMATES KNEW THEN THAT HE WOULD BE A STAR. SOMETIMES OUR SCHOOL WOULD HAVE AN
ASSEMBLY (THAT IS SOMETHING LIKE A TALENT SHOW) TRINI WOULD PERFORM, SOME OF THE CLASSMATES WANTED TO SEND TAPES TO DIFFERENT PROGRAMS. I WAS ALSO WORKING AT PARKLAND HOSPITAL WHEN HIS BROTHER JESSE WAS IN A HORRIBLE AUTO ACCIDENT. I MET TRINI AGAIN, AND HE REMEMBERED ME AND THAT WAS SUCH AN HONOR. I'M SO PROUD THAT HE MADE A SUCCESS OF HIS LIFE, HE REALLY DESERVES IT.

Back in 1.972 (I was five), one of my uncles had a record collection that
I loved too much. One of my favorites was "Trini Lopez at P.J.'s", mainly because "A-me-ri-ca", the LP opener, was a terrific song to me. I didn't hear the original West Side Story version before. My uncle lived in another city, so
I only could listen to his records when my parents went to visit my grandparents. One day,
I decided to take this record home. It was that good!. The night before our departure,
I put the LP in the bottom of a suitcase. When we arrived home, i couldn't wait to open the suitcase for listening to "my" new record, but my uncle noticed its
disappearance and, in a nice gesture, replaced it by another that I wasn't interested in ("La pachanga se baila así" by Joe
Quijano). In the following travel to my grandpas' home, I picked up the record again, and my uncle didn't notice (or didn't do anything?). I was happy!
Many years later, when my uncle had very little money, he sold his record collection. I told him: "Why didn't you tell me?!!! you know how much
I loved your records!!!!!" Fortunately, I stole his "Trini Lopez at
P.J.'s" LP when I was a kid, so now I can say that I'm the proud owner of this funny recording that brings so many memories to me. By the way,
I didn't know what I liked so much of "A-me-ri-ca". Now, as a musician,
I know that the chord progression is great. This, plus the charming voice of Trini and his almost acoustic accompaniment (what a rhythm!), makes it one of my favorite tunes. Of course, this is not the only great song in the record. The whole recording is very remarkable. Even the disc label means something to me. Back in the seventies, I liked to see the labels spinning, and the Reprise label was new (and cool) to me. Thank you, Trini. From the beginning ("And now
P.J.'s proudly presents...Trini Lopez!") to the end, your first record has been such a great experience.

When I was 15 year's old I heard Trini for the first
time on radio, the title of the song was " Are you Sincere " (that was in Hull, my home town) then
I purchased my first LP from Trini and I fell in love with is music, his look and the way he sang his song.
Later on I joined the army in 1966, I was stationed in Germany and I wrote the formular to
part of Trini's fan club. Since then I had the rare chance of seeing my idol during a show in
Montréal, in 1980, and the greatest moment of my life to see and talk to Trini in
his dressing room after the show, obtaining a signed photo of his fan club that he dedicated to me, what a souvenir that
I keep from that magic moment ! I even got photo of his show by a photographer of the Journal de Montréal after the
spectacle. Of course I have very impressive collection of all Trini did on records, 45 RPM, cassettes, CDs, film rare footage of a Television
Show that he made in Paris France in 1990.
I am 53 years hold and I still love his music and the singer ! He is the top for me !
Mike, God bless you.

I have always loved Trini Lopez and his music. When I was younger (23), I first saw his show in Mexico City. When I came home to Chicago, Il., he was doing a benefit which I also attended. Several nights later, he performed at the Ambassador Hotel, also in Chicago. Of course, I attended that show too. After the performance, my girlfriends & I were sitting in the hotel bar wondering if he was staying at the same hotel. I picked up the lobby phone and asked for his suite. I was overwhelmed when I was actually connected!! His manager answered the phone. After asking me all sorts of questions, he finally gave the phone over to Trini. We talked for about 10 minutes. I told him a bit about myself and then he asked me where I was. After I told him I was downstairs in the lobby, he asked me to come on up to his suite. There was a party going on. Needless to say, I went up. When I rang the bell, Trini came to the door and invited me in. I very politely said no, so he came out into the hallway and we spoke for awhile. He autographed a picture of himself for me and then he proceded to kiss me on my lips. I am now 52 years old and that memory is still one of the sweetest I shall ever have, unless, of course, Trini does a show in Chicago or surrounding area once again. Thank you Trini for your wonderful music and a kiss which will be forever cherished....

Well. I am only 19 years old and in the University and I guess my story isn't really one of memory in a way but Trini Lopez has indeed touched my life however.
I was born and raised in Honduras, Central America. Truth is my family was never together often because my dad was (and still is) a workaholic and so he was never really around often. However, Trini Lopez, with his great spirit and sound brings nostalgia to me because he created an atmosphere of togetherness and happiness whenever we played his music. We would listen to his music whenever we went on the few family trips we had. It would be one of those 4 hours trips where it was just my dad, my mom, my sister and I. And there was this sense of "family-nes" and warmth...and Trini Lopez' voice seemed to be there at those times. Songs like "Pancho Lopez" and "Amor,
amor, amor" are the ones that I distinclty remember. All these memories are from when I was approximately 6 or 7 years old and it is truly amazing that I could remember his voice all these years.
I am now attending Valparaiso University and have once again discovered Trini Lopez. I had kinda forgot all about this wonderful artist, but I somehow stumbled upon his name and have been listening to his music almost 24/7. Not only does he bring that nostalgic feeling of warmth and family, but he also brings a smile to my heart with his free-spirited and happy tunes. Thank you Trini Lopez.
I would also like to give praise to Trini Lopez himself for how he manages himself and how he managed to come from "el barrio" and become such a prosperous and excellent human being. He is a true role model for anyone. And it is also wonderful to know that he has represented the Latino heritage so well.
thanking Trini,

Back in 1965 I had plenty of LP album by
Trini. One album I still have the Love Album. However this album is rare. One side it
doesn't play the six songs as stated, but the other side is not TRINI and is not the six songs as stated. It is in good shapes after 35 plus years. Is their any value to this album. let me know soonest. I can tape it and sent tape only but will sell the album.

I had an LP "TRINI" on Reprise label R-6196, with tracks "The Shadow of Your Smile", "I Will Wait For You", "Call Me" and other great tracks. But the three above were ones I sang to my late and wonderful wife, Rose. The "Shadow of Your Smile" was our
favorite, and I sang it to her on so many occasions, and I sang it for her the final time at her funeral Mass. My heart cries
every time I hear it. The LP is so scratched that I cannot play it any more. Thanks Trini. Wish I could get the CD or even the LP again.

Lopez is "THE" reason why I became interested in the guitar! My parents had his records and i thought those pictures of "that guy" holding that guitar was so cool!!! I was only 5 yrs old. today, the guitar is my life, as I own a guitar shop in Scranton, Pa. I still have some of those original albums, but others were lost. Can anybody tell me where I can get the "Live" albums? If it
wasn't for Trini, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today! Thanks Trini!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was l962, I think, in Seattle Opera House. Trini was on a "rock and roll" program with the Beach Boys and many others. It was the first time I had ever been to a show like that. My girlfriend and I were in "7th Heaven" seeing all these "stars"! I loved him then and do now and still own the old LPs from those days. Thanks for the great music

I was just watching the movie, "Apollo 13" when one of Trini's songs, "Lemon Tree", was played while the astronauts were in space. I instinctively wondered: whatever happened to T.L., since my fondest memories go back to my childhood during the sixties when my mother fell in love with Trini and his music.
All during my adult life up to now I knew nothing about Trini's career until I got 'curious' and found this website. I'm glad to know Trini has been just as popular now as in the sixties.
I'm going to look for those albums from PJ's now!
Thanks for the memories.

For me at 46 years, 27 of those have been as a singer/songwriter/entertainer. The reason I went into show business is Trini Lopez. He was my idol. My Mom is Spanish and those Spanish-Latin songs are deeply imbedded in my soul. So when I first heard Trini I said, "Man, This Is For Me!" Now 27 years, a few published songs and MANY wonderful stories, and memories later, I wanted to take the time to say "Thanks" to Trini Lopez for all the love, sacrifice, and blood sweat and tears he's given us all. It bothers me with this resurge of Latin music the name Trini Lopez is not mentioned. So Trini, if you're reading this or you get to hear of this letter, to you I say: "Canta Libre!" Bless You!

We all are in love with the song Bésame Mucho and constantly look for the best version. One day we spotted Lopez's CD on a shelf and bought it. We have now found the perfect Bésame Mucho. Lopez sings it with such passion and feeling that it brings tears to our eyes each time we listen to his recording.
THANK YOU TRINI LOPEZ!

Dear Trini, I grew listening to your record recorded at PJ's. It must have been exciting in the 60's to be involved in that whole scene. I am now 40 years old. You were one of the guys I could'nt wait to meet when I grew up. Born and raised in LA, Hollywood is where I hung out, sang in the clubs, booked bands on the strip and more. I ended up working in the music business, companies like CBS/Sony, BMG and more. I still work with various record companies. I never see you out there performing. I am friends with quite a few musicians. Johnny Rivers, just played the Whisky. I called Ira Okun and asked him if you still perform anywhere? He said no. I saw on the site you still do. How come not here in LA? I would go on the cruise just to see you perform. Look forward to possibly seeing you soon. Best Regards, Chaz Hernandez.

I just can't explain my happiness on seeing in front of me ur site with all the information i have been wanting at the back of my mind .
I clearly remember my childhood days when we did not have any record player, but somehow had 10 to 12 records, and then my father got on philips Fiesta player. My father used to listen to all english music programmes and all the love and interest and FANATISM i have for OLD LOVE SONGS, Broken Hearted Love songs, Love themes, Solos of 60s, and 70s is because of him.
I am an Indian, born on 2nd March 1960, hometown being a Valley north of India, 250 km upnorth from Capital New Delhi, and from the time i cud understand music I heard English Music. From those 10 or 12
S.P. records we had before the player arrived, one was YOUR'S, Trini Lopez, ( I am getting Goose Pimples and feeling unbearably nostalgic while i am narrating u my story about my love for ur music which is strongly deep down in my life forever.),
That was a record with bit of Orange and Black combination centre portion, and i think it was Warner Brother's label. You won't believe...It was IF I HAD A HAMMER and the flip side was CU COO RU CU COO
PALOMA....i am in Dubai since last 10 years and hunted in more than 40 music shops since i came here, but didn't find any album with Cu Coo Ru .. and Pretty Eyes in them. I have ur quite a few songs in my collection but am DESPERATE TO HAVE Cu Coo Ru AND Pretty Eyes. Why are there not many of ur music available here in
UAE.
This record too ( Pretty Eyes )we had soon after we had the player and the flip side for this one was Lemon Tree.
I am very thrilled to have your sight, somehow just suddenly while on the net by unexpectingly typing ur name on the address and am NOSTALGICALLY Delighted.
I am gonna download lots of ur matter and send to my father back home, he is going to be 70 this June, He was 38 appx. and me 8 onwards when he gave me this Music of yours in my heart. My wife is ABSOLUTELY equal to me in being your all out FAN and thats what i enjoy most of my wife.
I havent been to ur any other subheadings yet as i got very restless and impatient to write you soonest as soon as saw this opportunity to write to u through this column.
I have been trying on WIAMP Music for your songs since more than 5 months and don't find any of your songs. PLEEEEEEEEASE advise where can i find on the computer my Memories related TWO songs in special...Pretty Eyes and Cu COO
Ru...
I LOVE YOU.
