On Saturday, March 29, 2008, Trini made a special guest appearance for "The Celebrate Life Dinner" featuring Pat Boone in Indian Wells, California, and sang several of his hit songs.  This was benefit for Miriam House Maternity Home and Birth Choice of the Desert Pregnancy Help Center.  Miriam House provides shelter, caring and spiritual support for homeless pregnant women. After singing only three songs, Trini received a standing ovation and Pat Boone lead the ovation.  Pat Boone had a beautiful pro life presentation and sang several of his famous hits.  It was an uplifting evening.
On Tuesday, March 18, Trini was the headliner at a benefit for the United States Marines in Cathedral City, California.  For some unknown reason, when these military troops return to the Palm Springs airport, they must provide their own transportation to the 29 Palms Marine base in 29 Palms, Ca.  The drive takes about one and half hours.  After these men have put their lives on the line for us, it is a shame they must pay to get back to their base when they return.  In order to help with this expense, a benefit was held with many other local celebrities performing. There was standing room only and people were turned away at the door because there was no room for anyone else to enter the building.  Trini performed several songs and had the people dancing, clapping, and singing along with him.  It was a wonderful event with nine of the Marines in attendance.  Several thousand dollars were raised for these wonderful men and women.
The International Medical Alliance, Inc., a non profit organization, hosted a black-tie South American Extravaganza at the Westin Mission Hills Resort, in Rancho Mirage, California on February 8, 2008.  The IMA provides free medical care to the poor around the world.  It was a fun and elegant black-tie dinner and fashion show which featured a mix of South American cuisine, colors and romance of Columbia and grand show of Brazilian music!  A silent auction with many items including a special painting by world famous artist, Sharie Hatchett Bohlmann, raised money to be used to send medical missions teams to perform surgeries, consultations and doctor's conferences.  Doctors donate their services, but it does cost for travel and to ship supplies to the impoverished countries.  Trini Lopez was honored as a honorary member of the Board of Directors of this worthwhile charity and was in attendance.  There web page is www.internationalmedicalalliance.org.  Check it out!
NEWS ALERT:  Trini would like to express his thanks to his fans for their concern for him because of the theft of his 1982 Rolls Royce from his driveway. He was not injured and his car has been recovered with no damage.  He did have to have the automobile re-keyed because the robbers kept the keys.  Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers.
On November 29, 2007, Trini  helped raise thousands and thousands of dollars  for the injured fire fighters in the Fallbrook, California, area.  Fans were very, very receptive to Trini's performance and he received several standing ovations.

On September 1, 2007, Trini was a special guest on the Bubblegum Bonanza at The Cannery Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Robin Leach Introduced the show which included Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods, The Ohio Express, The 1910 Fruitgum Company, Alan O'Day, Andrew Gold, Ron Dante/The Archies, and Trini Lopez.

Trini made an appearance, and naturally this legendary performer waltzed in and stole the show! After a prolonged standing ovation, the master strapped on his guitar and led the band into the opening of his hit, "Lemon Tree". The place went wild and never sat down while he was onstage.
Then he did his biggest hit, the song that sold millions and millions of copies, and was number one in 38 countries, "If I had a Hammer".
He came back at the end of the night, along with all of the bands that had played previously, about 3,000 people onstage, and it was a rousing version of another of his big hit songs, "La Bamba". Whow, what a show!!!
After everyone else had signed autographs and left, Trini was still signing pictures, books, posters and album covers for another hour and a half.  The only people around were security and Trini’s fans.

This is an article posted on the internet.  It is long but interesting.  Please read the last paragraph carefully.
NEW YORK - A fundraising auction of music memorabilia from Jimi Hendrix, The Edge, Bono, Paul McCartney, former President Bill Clinton, and others smashed expectations and brought in $2.4 million, some of which will go to a charity that replaces musical equipment lost to hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  "It was the best sale we've ever done," said Darren Julien, president and CEO of Julien's Auctions, which ran the event benefiting Music Rising.
A red Fender Mustang guitar owned by Jimi Hendrix was sold for $480,000 after the night's most frenzied round of bidding.  Music Rising was co-founded by The Edge, joined by veteran music producer Bob Ezrin and Henry Juszkiewicz, CEO of the Gibson Guitar Group, at its inception in the fall of 2005.  The charity's focus on the Gulf Coast's musical heritage gained further support from a coalition of music and media industry organizations including MusiCares, the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund, MTV Networks, Rolling Stone Magazine, Hard Rock International and other organizations.  During 2006, Music Rising expanded its goals beyond relief to working musicians who lost their instruments during the Gulf Coast devastation, announcing a second phase to donate instruments to schools and churches affected by the storms.
At Saturday's event, the
U2 guitarist donated several instruments, including his favorite guitar, a 1975 Gibson Trini Lopez that he has played for years and prominently featured on such signature U2 songs as "New Year's Day."  The weathered, cream-colored instrument had been expected to bring $60,000 to $80,000 but it fetched $240,000 with a commission bringing the total to $288,000.
Bono's Gretsch Irish Falcon electric guitar brought in $180,000, while a tenor saxophone donated by former President Bill Clinton captured $54,000.

Manufactured by Gibson between the years of 1964 and 1971, the Trini Lopez Model Gibsons were sometimes prominently featured in the Gibson guitar catalogs as Electric Acoustic Artist models at the front and beginning of the Gibson catalog, the catalog’s featured spot.

The Trini Lopez Delux (a.k.a. “Custom”) Guitar, the guitar played by Trini himself, featured a deeper double cutaway and a curly maple top, back, and rim with cream binding and bound, diamond-shaped sound holes.  A mahogany neck joined the body the 17th fret with diamond-shaped pearl inlays on a 20 fret, ebony fret board.  The Deluxe had two hum bucking pickups with a standby switch and sported a tune-o-matic bridge on a rose bridge-base.  The 24 ¾” scale guitar was 17” wide and 3” deep, was manufactured in a cherry sunburst finish, and featured, at Trini's request, 6-to-a-side tuning keys in the Fender tradition.

The Trini Lopez Standard Guitar is a variation on the ES-335 theme with a thin line body, 16” wide.  This 24 ¾” scale guitar was 1 ¾” deep, and also featured a double rounded cutaway, and a maple top, back, and rim with cream binding and bound diamond-shaped sound holes.  It sported a mahogany neck with diamond-shaped pearloid inlays on the 22 fret, rosewood fingerboard.  The neck joined the body at the 19th fret.  Two hum bucking pickups and a tune-o-matic bridge added to the Gibson look and sound.  Like The Deluxe, The Trini Lopez Standard Guitar featured 6-on-a-side tuning keys.  It was most commonly seen in a cherry finish, but models have been reported in Sparkling Burgundy and Pelham Blue Metallic!  Cowabunga, what shimmering babies those Trini models in burgundy and blue must be!

On December 10, 2006, Trini was honored by the Palm Springs Walk of Stars with the International Recording Star Award.  The event was held at the Robert "Bob" Pond Hangar at the Palm Springs Air Museum.  Proceeds will be used to provide scholarship(s) to student(s) of the arts and fund a program for the upkeep and maintenance of the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.  It was a great evening.  Photos of the event are posted in the Photo Gallery - New Pictures
Trini was honored with the prestigious 10 Diamond Award from the Los Angeles Music Awards November 9th at the Music Box/Henry Fonda Theatre.   The Los Angeles Music Awards recognizes artists that have made a positive impact in the music industry and Trini certainly has made a positive impact with over 100 million albums sold and 5 decades performing. The red carpet/black tie event  was a very exciting evening.  Trini was the only one who received a full standing ovation.
